Sunny St. George Vacation Home

This is my niece and her new husband cutting a cake I made specially for them

This stunner in St. George had a lot going for it when we bought it in 2004. It was the first brand new home we had ever purchased and technically it didn't need a thing. However, true to form, we simply had to change a few things and make it our own. The first thing we did was to transform what were very boring tan garage doors to something a little more unique. I chose the look, Dave did all the work out in the heat (I'm no fool). Using a combination of colors and his own painting prowess, Dave created this fabulous copper look.

From there I moved to the interior of the home. The flooring, paint color, and fixtures were already in place so I built on the original color scheme and style. I did wallpaper and re-painted some of the walls in the home. I was able to use furniture and accessories we already had and added a few new pieces to complete the job.

The Family room, kitchen, dinning, and game room formed an enormous great room. Very open with stunning views from the amazing windows at the back. The home already had a lot of really nice stacked rock around the large kitchen island and the family room fireplace. In order to balance the whole space we built in a small dry bar backed by stacked rock that mimicked the fireplace on the opposite side of the room. In the kitchen we added a granite back splash that I felt like this custom home called for.

I had a lot of fun decorating the two bedrooms for our boys. I went with a sports theme in one and a cabin theme in the other. For the large master, I went with a warm, rich brown on the wall to make the space feel a little more cozy.

The office was a clean slate. We designed and had built in bookcases installed with a hidden Murphy Bed that pulled down in the middle. The desk and wooden shutters were built to match.

The final improvement we made was to design and put in a pool and add palm trees to the backyard. That was an amazing experience! So much fun watching the f aux rocks take shape and watch the trees be lifted in place by a huge crane!
